Ada Vera Blanchard passed away peacefully, at Seaforth Long Term Care Home, on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Throughout her 91 years among us, Ada was a source of love, caring and faith within the circle of her family, friends and community.

Ada will be lovingly remembered by her children Julia Stewart of Clinton, Ron Blanchard and Laurie Finch of Seaforth, John and Susan Blanchard of Seaforth, Debbie and Hank Van Galen of Woodstock and Frances Rowley of London. Cherishing memories of a much loved grandma are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and countless others that Ada and Gordon took under their wings as foster parents. Left to reminisce days gone by are her brother John Nichol and brother-in-law Ben Gibson. Ada will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

In faith, we trust that Ada’s spirit is reunited in eternal life with her husband Gordon (2015), their infant son Charles Blanchard, her parents William and Ada (née Hooper) Nichol, granddaughter Bethany Blanchard, grandson Benjamin Van Galen, and many siblings and siblings-in-law.

Visitation will be held at McGlynn Family Funeral Home (519-527-1390), 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth, on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A time to honour Ada’s life and seek comfort in our faith will take place at Bethel Bible Church, 120 Main Street South, Seaforth, on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Maitland Bank Cemetery followed by a reception at the church.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Bethel Bible Church Mission Fund would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made by visiting Ada’s memorial at

My Condolences to the entire family.
I am sorry I couldn't be there, prior commitments held me back.
I remember first starting at Bethel and meeting Gord and Ada and thinking; "I don't think they know what to make of me." However I quickly learned that I had their support to become what GoD created me to be. Ada was a quiet woman with a strong faith that I had never known. I have huge admiration for her and I learned so much from her and how she carried herself and presented through different life situations. I hope one day to be even half of what she had in Faith and in strength in GoD. Praise GoD for the incredible example that both Gord and Ada were in and to their families and church and community. Rest in Sweet Peace.

Roger and I were very happy to attend Ada's memorial service today. It was so good to hear how much her family loved her. We loved how Mandy said that Ada was all about 'familyship' instead of friendship. Anyone who came into her home was FAMILY. We loved hearing about her hard work - she provided well for her family. Canning, presents just in case someone came, baking... she did it all. I remember finding out she was also a bus driver, and a foster mom, and a gardener, and so many other things. She will be missed, but we can imagine the joy of the reunion she is experiencing with Gord and her grandchildren. We love you, John and Susan. Roger wants you to know that he really respects people who adopt kids. It made a huge difference in his life.
