Delford passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at Huron Residential Hospice, on Sunday, July 14, 2019. Delford Edwin Altman was 63 years old. Delford was a handy man and had a knack for fixing things. The many warm and loving memories we have of him will help mend our sorrow filled hearts.

Delford will be lovingly remembered by his children Adam and Doreen Altman, Tanya Altman and Christina and Cody McNaughton. Fond memories of a special grandpa remain with grandchildren Natasha, Danielle, AJ, Joshua, Aaron, Jayden, Callum, Benett, Kylie and Brandon. Left to reminisce days gone by are siblings and siblings-in-laws Germaine and Delford Stemmler, Roy Altman and Nancy Strassburger, Louis and Joanne Altman, Shirley and Bob Rippert, Jim Altman and Nancy and Jack Perrin. Delford is predeceased by his parents Patrick and Rose (née Netzke) Altman, siblings Patrick Altman and Doreen Bowers, and sisters-in-law Diane Altman and Joan Altman.

Arrangements are entrusted to McGlynn Family Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth. Family and friends are invited to honour Delford’s life and find comfort in ways of faith at a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at St. James Catholic Church, 22 Victoria Street, Seaforth, commencing at 11 a.m. Father Philip Joseph celebrant. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery and a reception will be held at Seaforth Legion, Branch 156, 123 Main Street South, Seaforth.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Huron Residential Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made by visiting Delford’s memorial at

I have been fortunate to enjoy many conversations with Del while he was a resident at Huron Residential Hospice. Del always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He loved nature and he loved people. I will miss chatting with him tomorrow when I arrive for my volunteer shift at the residence. He was a good hearted man.

I got to know Del during his time at Huron Hospice. He was a great fella with a great sense of humour. He quickly became a part of our family. Sympathies to all of his family. I hope Del and Jim are now reunited.
